“Hulk” and “Starbucks” are unofficial collector names. The reference number is the reliable way to identify the watch. The newer model is also called “Cermit” or “Starbucks Mk1/Mk2” in some listings; check the exact piece rather than assuming nickname consistency.

Dial and colour: maximum green or controlled green?

The Hulk's defining feature is its green sunburst dial. It can move from dark forest tones to bright metallic green as the wrist turns. Combined with the bezel, it is one of the most colour-saturated modern steel Rolex sports watches.

The 126610LV keeps the green at the bezel and returns the dial to black. That gives the familiar Submariner contrast and makes the watch easier to combine with clothing. It is still recognisable as the green Submariner, but colour frames the dial instead of filling it.

Photographs often fail here. Strong lighting can make the Hulk look brighter than everyday use, while a black-background product image can make the Starbucks bezel appear nearly black. View both in daylight.

Case shape and wrist feel

The older 116610 generation is nominally 40 mm but uses broad lugs and crown guards, creating the squared “Super Case” stance. The 126610LV is nominally 41 mm yet its redesigned proportions can read more tapered through the lugs. Millimetres alone do not tell you which feels larger.

Wrist shape, bracelet sizing and the way the case sits matter. The Hulk often feels compact but visually dense; the Starbucks spreads slightly differently and looks more balanced to buyers who prefer the current-generation Submariner.

Calibre 3135 vs calibre 3235

The 116610LV uses Rolex calibre 3135, a long-running automatic date movement with an approximate 48-hour power reserve. The 126610LV uses calibre 3235, with Rolex's Chronergy escapement and an approximate 70-hour reserve.

The longer reserve is useful if a watch comes off the wrist for a weekend. Movement generation should not, however, override condition and service evidence. A well-maintained 3135 can be the better purchase than a neglected newer watch.

Bracelet and Glidelock clasp

Both use Oyster bracelets and Glidelock adjustment, allowing fine extension without a tool. The newer generation has revised proportions to match the case. Inspect the clasp action, screws, link count, play and surface condition.

Polished-looking outer links on a model expected to be brushed can indicate refinishing choices that deserve explanation. Spare links matter for fit and future resale, especially if the watch is currently sized small.

What affects Hulk and Starbucks pre-owned values?

The discontinued Hulk has a finite supply and a distinctive dial, which supports collector interest, but that does not guarantee a future price. The current 126610LV can have manufacturer-warranty context and newer specifications, while supply and demand continue to change.

Choose the Hulk if the green dial is the reason you are shopping and you appreciate the compact, squared 116610 generation. Choose the 126610LV if you want a black dial, longer power reserve and current Submariner proportions.

If value retention is your only reason, pause. Both are wearable objects with market risk. The more durable choice is the watch you prefer in ordinary light, at a price you can comfortably own, from a seller and example you have verified.
